Janeen Mason to speak at the Environmental Studies Center’s DEEP DIVE 2026 LEARNING SERIES in Jensen Beach, FL.

Focusing on inclusion, our program uses the arts to teach across the curriculum.

Janeen Mason is a dynamo when she engages students with Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math from her book, Ocean Commotion: Caught in the Currents. Using reader’s theater and a giant map of the world, students recreate the events that occurred when 28,000 rubber ducks went overboard during a terrible storm on the night of June 10, 1992. Where did they go?

How did they get there? Who discovered them? How long did it take? And most importantly, why are these bathtub toys important to us?
